I dropped the ball on buying Casie a present this year, so instead I wrote her a poem about how I didn't. Read along on YouTube or Vimeo!

Dear Casie,

I swear, this year
I truly wanted to
Go to B.C. on a cruise
Or at least buy ya socks in Toronto blue

It's not that couldn't afford either
I've got stock options,
Proof that I could've sold those,
Not my body, like some prostitute

But like a New Year's in New York
They'll stream upon the news
I dropped the ball...
Not a single gift bought for you :(

I assume you got me
Some super thoughtful loot
Even a toy for Lucy
Ugh, I forgot her too... :/

There'll be no sleigh bells,
No Chris Cringle rendezvous
He'll pass you right up
On his way across the moon

All you'll get is this poem
At no cost to you
At least I thought to include
A Santa "Clause" or two

So, let's kick off our shoes,
Forget unwrapping 'Aahs’ and ‘Oohs'
If an awkward pause ensues
I'll say, "Sacre-bleu! Yours got lost en route!"

Look, I've learned my lesson,
I missed all the cues
And pretending this is your present
Breaks lots of rules

I hope you'll forgive me
For such a colossal ruse
I've been drinking all the booze
Like, "What've I got to lose!?"

In your presence without presents
We'll eat all the foods
Dipping meats in fine cheeses
Cause it's "fon-to-due"

I'll do better next year, babe
This I promise you
At least we still have each other?

I hope this poem makes you smile
Not at a loss, confused
I'll sing it from atop the pews,
“Merry Christmas, Casie. I love you!”
(...sorry for being a forgetful BF and a godawful dude)
